I like to say optimal well being is our birthright. Holistic medicine represents many forms of natural healthcare which take into consideration the whole person on physical, emotional, mental levels. The goal of holistic medicine is the state of optimal well-being.
What is it like to experience optimal health and wellness?
Well for one thing, you’re in touch with the truth of your being, and there are no impediments to its expression in your life. You’re free from limitations and blockages which would otherwise prevent you from enjoying life, evolving, progressing, expressing your life purpose.
On a physical level that would mean, for example, not having to live in a glass bubble due to environmental sensitivities, and not having dependence on drugs, or even too many herbal medicines to control symptoms.
An emotionally healthy person would experience an active interplay of calmness, love and positive emotions having a unifying sense with the outside world, while engendering compassion and unselfishness. An emotionally healthy person is aware of the full range of emotions, yet would be free from getting stuck in negative emotions such as rage, hatred, and depression.
Optimal mental wellness will include freedom from getting stuck in delusions and having the ability to comprehend things clearly and rationally. Being in this state of wellness enables one to be in touch with the truth of one’s being and one is able to express that in the world.
How is this state of optimal well being achieved through holistic medicine?
Well, this is a huge topic which will be meaningfully explored in the course of this Blog. Therefore I personally welcome you to this blog which is intended to be interesting, informative and perhaps, on some levels…enlightening.
From my viewpoint, human life is an evolving work in process. Each of us has his or her, own destiny, with unique genetic, prenatal, and constitutional substrata.
Physical, emotional, and mental traumas during our lifetimes represent further complicating factors. The combination of all these elements makes for a rich and challenging opportunity for Holistic medicine to give people back their birthright - the state of optimal well being.
Some points need to be made at the outset.
Simply throwing natural treatments at the ailing person to control symptoms, is a low and smoke obscured path that does not lead to our goal of optimal well being. Holistic medicine shines best when it resolves the underlying cause(s) of the problem(s). A common experience we find is that when the cause of the problem is healed, many health problems will resolve themselves.
Then, the goal with holistic medicine, while first doing no harm, is to stimulate the person’s own system to heal itself. The idea provide messages to the health of a person, to heal or balance underlying causes to disease. Over centuries and millennia, physicians have faced the issues of wellness, disease and suffering. They have made great discoveries. We now live in encouraging times where time tested natural therapies and recent technological advances are coming together to provide effective tools for achieving our birthright of optimal well-being.
