While visiting India this January 2012, I had the privilege to visit the School for Perfect Eyesight set in the tropics along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, here I found a holistic alternative to eye glasses. After getting one’s eyes checked by an eye doctor, you go upstairs and have a solution of water infused with rose petal, placed in the eye with a relaxing exercise in the sun. Then you’re taught a series of acupressure massage on the face, hands, feet and ears, all for improving vision. Then relaxing cupping exercise, then reading by candlelight in a dimly lit room, then reading in daylight, then specific eye exercises training the eyes to adjust focus. Then herbal steam therapy followed by cool compress. They call this the yoga of perfect eyesight. Actually it’s a synthesis of Bates method, acupressure with flower and solar healing. I was amazed the results in just a few sessions I was able to read the smallest print. However it does require repeated practice to maintain the improvement.
